Whether you’re a newbie to the topic or a long time sufferer of SIBO, you’re bound to be interested in learning more about this digestive disorder. After all, it’s a major concern for people with digestive issues.

Herbal antibiotics

Symptoms of SIBO can be distressing and hard to treat. While conventional treatments involve taking antibiotics, it’s important to consider alternatives. In fact, many people have found that herbal antibiotics are effective. These alternatives are more affordable and have a lower risk of resistance.

Natural SIBO treatments often include changes in diet and lifestyle, but they also include herbal supplements. A Functional Medicine Practitioner can analyze your gut health and prescribe herbal supplements to promote optimal health. These supplements have a range of benefits. These include reducing stress, boosting stomach acid production, and preventing relapse.

In addition, herbal antibiotics have the advantage of being systemic and affecting bacteria in both the small and large intestines. They are also safe, effective, and can be used repeatedly without worrying about antibiotic resistance.

A study from Johns Hopkins University found that an herbal treatment was as effective as a pharmaceutical antibiotic in treating SIBO. The study involved 114 patients with SIBO. In addition to pharmaceutical antibiotics, the patients also received four to ten herbal preparations. These herbal preparations included sage leaf, Chinese skullcap root, and oregano oil. In addition, each patient also received Rifaximin. The study found that both treatments were effective, but the herbal treatment was more effective in terms of side effects.

YourBiology Gut+ is an excellent option for addressing Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) due to its carefully formulated blend of probiotics and prebiotics. It contains beneficial bacterial strains, such as Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium lactis, which help rebalance gut microbiota by crowding out harmful bacteria associated with SIBO. The inclusion of prebiotic fiber nourishes these probiotics, allowing them to thrive and restore gut health. Additionally, it promotes better digestion, reduces bloating, and supports a healthier intestinal environment. With its delayed-release capsules ensuring survival through stomach acid, YourBiology Gut+ delivers targeted relief, making it an effective and natural choice for managing SIBO symptoms.

A study from the Global Advances in Health and Medicine journal found that an herbal rescue therapy was as effective as a triple antibiotic therapy in treating SIBO. The study also found that the herbal therapy was less disruptive to the gut microbiome than the pharmaceutical antibiotic, Rifaximin. However, there are no prospective studies yet that confirm these findings.

The herbal therapy also included berberine. This herb has been shown to have an antimicrobial effect against E. coli, a type of bacteria involved in SIBO. Berberine is a natural component of the Chinese herb Coptidis Rhizoma. It also has a positive impact on lactobacilli and bifidobacteria. Berberine is also thought to help repair leaky gut.

The best way to use herbs to treat SIBO is to discuss them with your doctor. This is an important step because there are many different herbs with different levels of active constituents. The right dose can make all the difference. However, not all of these herbs are effective for everyone.

You should also discuss dietary changes with your doctor. If you’re not eating real food, it may take longer for your symptoms to improve. You can also consider using a prokinetic agent such as MotilPro. You can take this product 1-2 times a day before bed. It also should be taken after antibiotics, though you should wait at least 16 days before retesting.

The herbal remedies can be purchased over the counter. However, it’s important to choose high-quality brands and have them tested for purity.

Dietary changes

Various studies have been conducted to determine whether or not dietary changes can help diagnose and treat irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). Dietary interventions can reduce inflammation, reduce gastrointestinal symptoms, and starve the bacteria that are overgrowing. However, they can’t eradicate bacteria.

There are many different symptoms that may accompany IBS and SIBO, and many of them overlap with other health conditions. This is why it is important to determine the underlying cause of the symptoms. Treating the underlying condition will help remove the bacteria and prevent SIBO from occurring again.

SIBO is a chronic condition that requires a number of interventions to treat. A combination of medication, stress management techniques, and dietary changes is usually the most effective treatment approach. In addition to treating the symptoms of SIBO, dietary changes can also help reduce the risk of SIBO.

Dietary changes can help decrease inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract and reduce the production of gas. Some people are also able to decrease the risk of SIBO by limiting certain types of carbohydrates. The bacteria that cause SIBO feed on carbohydrates. So limiting carbohydrates will help starve the bacteria and stop their growth.

In addition, people with SIBO may be at increased risk of developing nutritional deficiencies. This can be a result of the restrictive diet, which may be lacking in important substrates for colonic bacteria. For this reason, it is important to consult with a health care provider to develop a plan that can help you maintain proper nutrition.

Some people with SIBO are lactose intolerant, which means they don’t digest lactase. In fact, it is possible to heal SIBO by consuming certain dairy products. If you are dairy intolerant, you may need to avoid dairy products for a period of time, or you can consume goat yogurt or coconut probiotic yogurt instead.

Dietary changes can also help reduce the risk of SIBO by reducing the number of insoluble fibers in your diet. Insoluble fibers are poorly fermented by the bacteria in your gut. They are usually present in fruits and vegetables. However, they are also present in grains and dairy products.

Restricting fermentable carbohydrates can also help reduce the overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine. This is because bacteria love sugar. Limiting fermentable carbohydrates can also help balance the gut microbiota and reduce the symptoms of SIBO.

Symptoms of SIBO can be relieved by following a low FODMAP diet. This is a diet that is low in fermentable carbohydrates, such as grains, sugar, and legumes. A low FODMAP diet should be followed with guidance from a health care provider. If you have other medical conditions, it is important to consult with your health care provider to determine whether or not you can follow a low FODMAP diet.

Recurrence

Symptoms of Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) are often misdiagnosed. Many symptoms overlap with other diseases, making it difficult to diagnose. A variety of medical testing can help identify gastrointestinal distress.

The body normally maintains a healthy balance of gut flora through a complex network of chemical and mechanical functions. In addition to maintaining the natural balance, the body uses innate mechanisms to protect the gut against overgrowth. These include the secretion of biliary and pancreatic secretions, gastric acid, and peristalsis. However, the presence of SIBO can interfere with the body’s natural defenses, allowing harmful bacteria to grow out of control.

Symptoms of SIBO are often characterized by diarrhea and constipation, as well as bloating, indigestion, and abdominal discomfort. For those who have been diagnosed with SIBO, there are several steps that they can take to manage the condition. A personalized approach to treating SIBO may include diet, probiotics, and digestive aids. However, the best approach is to address the underlying causes of the condition and to make changes to the diet and lifestyle to promote overall digestive health. This strategy can help to address non-digestive symptoms as well as provide long-term relief.

While antibiotics can help relieve SIBO symptoms, they are not the solution to the problem. Antibiotics must be used in conjunction with a comprehensive treatment protocol that includes rebuilding the gut’s healthy bacteria population.

In addition to antibiotics, certain medications and diet changes can help reduce the risk of relapse. One important factor is reducing stress. In addition to taking a diet rich in plant-based foods, SIBO sufferers should avoid refined carbohydrates, artificial sweeteners, and processed foods. If possible, avoid eating processed food, as it may contain bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics.

Many people who have been diagnosed with SIBO experience recurrence after the initial treatment. However, this is not always the case. In fact, up to 70% of SIBO sufferers are able to eliminate their condition with probiotic therapy. Other factors that may play a role in SIBO recurrence include:

While SIBO is considered a bacterial condition, the bacterial overgrowth can be caused by other factors, such as anatomical abnormalities or decreased antimicrobial defenses. Several studies have shown that SIBO can be associated with other conditions. For instance, a study found that SIBO is associated with gastrointestinal motility disorders, which may explain the recurrence of symptoms after treatment. A study found that a decrease in protective antimicrobial mechanisms may be the cause of SIBO.

A study found that a bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine can lead to the production of hydrogen and methane. Hydrogen is metabolized into methane and sulfide. The body normally does not produce hydrogen in high amounts, but it is possible for certain bacteria to produce it. Hydrogen sulfide is produced by Archaea and sulfate-reducing bacteria.

If you are addicted to alcohol and thinking about quitting it for good, you can start by getting a quick detox. The detox will remove all the drug traces in your body making it easy for you to quit it. There are a lot of drug alcohol detox center open across the country and they provide quality treatments to various forms of drug addictions. But, how to choose the best center among the many? Here are a few tips to follow while choosing the right center for you.

Enquire About the Amenities

The first factor you need to keep in mind while choosing a detox center is the kind of amenities they provide you. This includes everything from the room for accommodation, the food options, and entertainment options that are available at the centers. You will be spending at least a week at the detox center, therefore you need a quality place to stay. The rooms need to be spacious, the food must be of good quality, and they must provide you with entertainment options like indoor games, unlimited Wi-Fi to stream movies, and TV series, and so on. So, make sure to ask about all these amenities before you enroll in a detox center.

Total Cost of Detox Therapy

The next important factor while choosing an alcohol detox center is the cost of treatments. Some would argue that this is the primary factor, and we cannot disagree with them. The detox process is not that expensive, but the cost of accommodation could vary. Some centers offer a luxury option where you get your own room, along with premium amenities. What is important is that the base cost of the process must be manageable. You can even use your insurance to cover up the treatment costs. Many detox centers have partnered with leading insurance companies to cover the treatment costs for their clients. Check up with your insurance provider too, before joining the centers.

Proximity to Your Residence

While many would recommend you to join a center close by your residence, we would advise you to join a center that is atleast a half hour journey from your residence. This is because you will be used to your neighborhood, and the detox center near you can prove useful temporarily, but in the long run, there are chances for relapse to occur and you could get back to the same detox center again. If you go to a far off Alcohol Detox Austin Texas center however, you will find yourself in a new environment that helps you change faster.

Previous History of the Center

Finally, when you decide on the centers that can suit your needs, you need to check up with the history of the centers. This includes patient turnover rates, relapse rates among patients, reviews by people who stayed there, and more. The centers are supposed to provide you with any kind of urgent care during your stay. Hence, their reputation must precede them in terms of their treatments.

Probiotics for IBS: A Promising Treatment?

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common disorder that affects the large intestine. It can cause cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, gas, diarrhea and constipation. IBS is usually a chronic condition that requires ongoing management. The exact cause of IBS is unknown, but it may be due to a problem with the signals between the brain and the intestines. Some triggers for IBS symptoms may include food intolerances, stress and hormonal changes.

Effective Supplement for IBS:

YourBiology Gut+ is a probiotic supplement that may be effective for IBS and other gut problems for several reasons:

CLICK to read the YourBiology Gut+ review

It contains multiple probiotic strains that are beneficial for gut health and IBS, including Bifidobacterium lactis, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Lactobacillus paracasei. Having several strains in one supplement helps ensure you get maximum benefits. Different strains work in complementary ways to ease IBS symptoms like pain, bloating and irregularity.

It uses high colony forming units (CFU’s), with each capsule containing 15 billion CFU’s. While lower doses of probiotics may still be helpful, higher amounts tend to produce better and quicker results for gut issues like IBS according to some research. Higher CFU’s mean maximum delivery of healthy bacteria to your intestines.

It utilizes delayed-release capsules to help the probiotics survive the stomach acid. Many probiotic bacteria die off before reaching the intestines due to harsh stomach acid. The delayed-release capsules prevent the probiotics from being destroyed in the stomach, so they can be delivered to the intestines where they are needed.

It is gluten-free, dairy-free, preservative-free, and contains no genetically modified ingredients. For those with digestive issues, it is important to choose a high-quality probiotic without potential irritants or allergens. YourBiology Gut+ fits the bill and should not cause adverse reactions or trigger IBS symptoms.

It was developed by doctors to provide therapeutic benefits. YourBiology Gut+ was formulated by physicians specifically to support gut health and help with GI conditions like IBS. It is not a general probiotic but rather one targeted for those with irritable bowel and related issues. The strains and dosages were carefully chosen to provide maximum gut benefits.

It comes with a 60-day money back guarantee. The company stands behind their product and offers a refund if you are not satisfied with the results after trying YourBiology Gut+ for IBS or digestive wellness. This allows you to try the probiotic without financial risk.

In summary, YourBiology Gut+ contains the right ingredients, strains, dosages, and formulation to potentially help improve gut health, reduce IBS symptoms, and restore microbial balance in the intestines. For many with IBS and gastrointestinal problems, a targeted probiotic like this may be worth trying under the guidance of your physician.

There is no cure for IBS, but there are treatments that can help relieve symptoms. One option that is generating interest is the use of probiotics. Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are good for your health, especially your digestive health. Our gut contains trillions of bacteria, and probiotics help maintain the natural balance of these bacteria. They can help with digestion and offer a variety of other benefits.

Several studies have found that probiotics may help improve IBS symptoms like abdominal pain, bloating and irregular bowel movements.

What is IBS-D

IBS diarrhea (IBS-D) is a subtype of irritable bowel syndrome characterized by chronic diarrhea or loose stools. People with IBS-D experience frequent bowel movements, typically more than 3 times a day. The stools tend to be loose or watery. Other symptoms may include:

Abdominal cramps and pain. The bowel movements are often preceded or accompanied by cramping or abdominal discomfort.

Bloating and gas. There may be excessive flatulence and bloating in the abdomen.

Urgency to have a bowel movement. There is little warning or ability to delay having a bowel movement. This can interfere with daily activities or sleep.

Incomplete evacuation. Even after having a bowel movement, there is still a feeling that the rectum is not fully empty. This leads to having frequent bowel movements throughout the day.

Nausea. Some people experience occasional nausea, especially in the morning or after eating.

The exact cause of IBS-D is not known, but some factors that may contribute include:

Hyperactive colon: The colon is over-responsive to normal triggers that stimulate bowel movements like eating, resulting in diarrhea.

Bacterial overgrowth: Excess bacteria in the small intestine may produce excess gas, diarrhea and abdominal bloating.

Food intolerances: Difficulty digesting certain foods like high FODMAP foods may lead to diarrhea and IBS symptoms in some individuals.

Stress and anxiety: The gut and brain are closely connected. Stress, anxiety, and high-pressure situations can trigger or worsen the symptoms of IBS-D.

Impaired gut barrier: Changes in gut permeability or absorption may allow substances to pass into the colon that trigger an inflammatory reaction leading to diarrhea.

Treatment focuses on lifestyle changes, managing stress, dietary modifications and medications such as antidiarrheals, antispasmodics, and tricyclic antidepressants.

There are effective probiotics for IBS-D and gut-directed hypnotherapy have also shown some promise for relieving IBS-D symptoms. The goals are to reduce diarrhea, improve stool consistency, and minimize abdominal discomfort. With proper management, the symptoms of IBS-D can often be kept under control.

Which Probiotic Strain Work Best for IBS

The most researched probiotics for IBS are Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus and Saccharomyces. These probiotics may help ease IBS symptoms in several ways:

Help restore the normal gut flora. In some people with IBS, the balance of good and bad bacteria in the gut may be disrupted. Probiotics can help repopulate the gut with good bacteria.

Reduce inflammation in the gut. Low-grade inflammation of the intestines may play a role in IBS. Probiotics have anti-inflammatory effects that may help alleviate this inflammation.

Improve gut motility and sensation. Probiotics may help restore normal muscle contractions in the intestines and reduce hypersensitivity to intestinal contents. This can help with both diarrhea and constipation.

Ease anxiety and depression. Gut health has been linked with mood and cognition. Probiotics may have effects on areas of the brain involved in stress, anxiety and depression, which can influence IBS symptoms.

Prevent overgrowth of bad bacteria. Probiotics create an environment in the gut that discourages harmful bacteria and other pathogens that may worsen symptoms.

While probiotics show promise for relieving IBS symptoms, more research is still needed to determine the ideal types, doses and durations of treatment.

Probiotics are considered generally safe for most people, but may cause gas, bloating or diarrhea in some instances. For IBS, it is best to get guidance from your doctor before using probiotics. Probiotics could be a useful adjunct to making diet and lifestyle changes. By combining multiple approaches, people with IBS may find significant relief from discomfort and improved quality of life.

Probiotics and IBS FAQ

How long should I take probiotics to feel the effects for IBS? For IBS, most studies on probiotics have looked at a minimum of 4 to 8 weeks of use to experience the benefits. It can take time for the probiotics to restore balance to the gut flora, so short term use may not produce significant results. You may need to experiment with different types or doses to find the right match for you. For maintenance, continuous, long-term use of probiotics may be needed to prevent IBS symptoms from recurring.

Are probiotics safe? For most people, probiotics are considered very safe. However, side effects can include increased gas, bloating, cramps, or diarrhea. Probiotics may not be suitable for some people with underlying health conditions. It is best to talk to your doctor before using probiotics, especially for conditions like IBS.

Do I need to take probiotics with food? It is usually recommended to take probiotics with food, ideally a meal that contains some fat. Taking probiotics with food helps ensure the bacteria reach your intestines, as stomach acid can destroy the live bacteria. Food also helps with the absorption of the probiotics.

Can I take probiotics with IBS medications? In most cases, it should be fine to take probiotics with medications for IBS. However, it is best to check with your pharmacist or doctor first. Some antibiotics, in particular, may interact with probiotics and reduce their effectiveness. Allow at least 2 hours between taking your medications and probiotic supplements. Always read product labels carefully and look for any warnings regarding medication interactions.

Having a probiotic in your diet can be a great way to keep your digestive tract healthy and in balance. However, there are many things to consider, including how to tell if it’s working. Read on to find out what to look for.

GI symptoms

GI symptoms are common and can be difficult to recognize. They can be caused by a variety of factors. The good news is that you can take steps to improve your digestive health.

The most important thing to do is to find a healthcare provider who can help you pinpoint the underlying cause of your GI symptoms. If you are suffering from abdominal pain or other gastrointestinal symptoms, a qualified doctor may be able to offer you an anti-inflammatory diet and other holistic methods to help improve your digestion.

Another good idea is to drink peppermint tea to alleviate the discomfort. This may also help reduce the amount of gas you produce.

In addition to improving digestion, probiotics can reduce bloating. Bloating is especially common among people suffering from SIBO.

The best probiotics can be found in high quality, multispecies formulations. They should also be free of allergens, fillers, and animal proteins. They should also contain at least one billion colony forming units (CFU). This may be a small amount but it is a good idea to start with a low dose and work your way up over time.

Probiotics are a good idea, but not all probiotics are created equal. In addition to their benefits, some may have negative side effects. The good news is that most people who take probiotics do not experience these side effects.

The best way to determine if a probiotic is a winner is to take note of the GI symptoms it relieves. You should also pay attention to how fast those symptoms are resolved. If your symptoms are becoming worse over time, you should consult with a gastroenterologist.

The best probiotics will also reduce the amount of gas you produce. In addition to promoting digestive health, they may also improve your skin. They are available in yogurt, powder, and juice forms.

Yeast infections

Yeast infections are caused by an overgrowth of yeast in the vagina. These infections can be painful and irritating, causing a rash and vaginal discharge. Luckily, most yeast infections go away within a few days of starting treatment. However, some people continue to feel itchy and uncomfortable after the infection has cleared up.

Yeast infections can be caused by many things. For example, medications that weaken the immune system can trigger infections, as can certain drugs, such as diabetes medications. In addition, hormonal changes can also trigger infections. If you are pregnant, you may also be more susceptible.

Yeast infections are a common problem for women. One study found that nearly 75% of women will have some type of yeast infection in their lifetime.

Yeast infections are usually caused by an overgrowth of yeast species Candida albicans. Fortunately, you can treat them with over-the-counter medications and prescription medicines. However, you should talk to your health care provider about your options if you have recurring infections or if you have unusual symptoms.

While probiotics have been touted as a way to fight yeast infections, there is little research on whether they actually work. The good news is that there are a number of products on the market that contain probiotics, including pills, suppositories and supplements. It’s important to read the labels of these products carefully, as some may contain harmful contaminants.

For example, some supplements contain live Lactobacillus acidophilus acidophilus, a strain of bacteria that has been shown to be useful against candida. However, most studies have been short-term, and many do not show any significant benefits.

Yeast infections are often treated with antifungal medication taken by mouth. This is the traditional approach. However, some women may find that using a probiotic supplement, in addition to antifungal medication, helps them keep their yeast infections under control.

Vaginal health

Having a probiotic can help you improve your vaginal health. It can help you prevent recurrent yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis. It can also help you maintain your vagina’s pH balance. This will prevent infections and keep you from developing eczema.

Probiotics are bacteria that help break down food, support your immune system, and prevent allergies. They are naturally found in some foods. You can also get them from nutritional supplements. The main strains of bacteria that are found in the vagina are L. acidophilus and Lactobacillus rhamnosus.

Bacterial vaginosis is caused by an imbalance in the microorganisms inside the vagina. It is also a symptom of a sexually transmitted infection. The bacteria in the vagina are supposed to be in harmony to keep the pH balance at a neutral level. If they are not, the infection can be worse.

The best female probiotics are in the Lactobacillus rhamnosus and acidophilus strains. These bacteria are found in most yogurt. They produce lactase, which is the enzyme that breaks down lactose into lactic acid. These bacteria are also found in the intestines.

Bacterial vaginosis and yeast infection can occur when the vagina isn’t properly balanced. This can lead to itching, burning, and discharge. The pH of the vagina should be at a neutral level to fight infection. However, douching can throw off the bacterial balance.

Probiotics can be taken orally or in vaginal suppositories. Some doctors recommend taking a probiotic supplement along with antibiotics. Other doctors warn against introducing new microorganisms into the body.

Probiotics help you maintain a healthy vaginal pH, which can prevent infections and prevent recurrent yeast infections. They can also reduce redness, itching, and burning. They are also effective at reducing irritation caused by cleaning products.

Weight gain

Taking probiotics is a great way to boost your gut health and help with weight loss. But it’s not always easy to know if the supplement is actually working for you. It can take up to a month for the supplement to really show its effects.

The best way to see if a probiotic will help you lose weight is to look at the ingredients on the label. If the product contains lactose, you might want to look for another product.

While taking probiotics might not result in immediate weight loss, it may help your body burn fat faster. In addition, probiotics may be able to boost the release of fat-regulating hormones.

In addition to boosting the body’s fat-burning abilities, probiotics may help you feel fuller. They may also help the body tolerate sugar better.

A test tube study suggests that probiotics may be able to manipulate your microbiota to boost fat release from your body. They may also be able to decrease inflammation in your gut, which may reduce your risk of obesity.

The effects of probiotics on your body may vary depending on the species and strain of bacteria. They may also have other benefits, such as helping your body burn fat more efficiently or improving your digestion.

It’s important to take note of the changes you see in your body when you start taking a probiotic. You might notice a change in your appetite or digestion, or you may experience a less-than-perfect bowel movement. It’s also a good idea to consult with your doctor if you experience any side effects.

There is no exact science behind the effects of probiotics on weight, but research suggests that they may help you lose weight and feel healthier. They may also help you avoid or prevent gastrointestinal problems such as constipation and diarrhea.

Immune function

Several studies indicate that oral probiotics induce several immune responses. These effects involve activation of dendritic cells (DCs) in the intestine, increasing cytokines, promoting the maturation of T cells, and enhancing anti-cancer activities. In addition, the administration of probiotic bacteria strengthens the intestinal barrier and inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria.

The immune cells in the gut, called immune epithelial cells (IECs), generate a complex network of signals that activate the innate response. They release cytokines, which influence the activity of immune cells that are distant from the gut. The immune cells that are located in the lamina propria, such as macrophages, are also affected by probiotic bacteria.

The interaction of probiotics with IECs increases the production of cytokines, including IL-10, TNF-a, and IL-13. It also primes Th1-profile responses. However, Treg cells do not respond to the probiotics. Several mechanisms have been proposed to explain the effects of probiotic bacteria.

One of these mechanisms is the stimulation of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) on DCs. In addition, probiotic bacteria are known to increase the production of CD206, which is a receptor for IL-10. They are also known to suppress nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kappaB) and inhibit proteasome function. Some probiotics have also been shown to block the degradation of the inhibitor I-kB.

The gastrointestinal tract contains a dense population of bacteria that work together to protect against invading pathogens. They enhance the production of IgG and strengthen the immune system.

The gut epithelium is a barrier that includes intercellular tight junctions. In addition, it forms a mucus-rich glycocalyx that reinforces the barrier. It also produces a layer of cells called Goblet cells that provide a protective barrier.

It is also known that some probiotics modulate the production of cytokines through the stimulation of signal transduction pathways. For instance, some probiotics promote the nuclear export of NF-kB subunit RelA. This is carried out through the PPAR-g-dependent pathway.

By now, it’s been widely established that smoking affects cardiovascular and pulmonary health. The CDC attributes nearly 90% of lung cancer deaths to smoking or secondhand exposure to cigarette or tobacco smoke. But what’s less known are the ill effects of smoking on gut health, and how it disrupts how the digestive system converts food into the nutrients that the body needs.

Here’s everything you need to know about smoking and your gut, from the common disorders and changes in the gut microbiome to the ways that you can improve your gut health.

How smoking affects gut health

Although not usually the primary cause, smoking has been linked to peptic ulcers, which are painful open sores in the lining of the stomach or duodenum. Smokers are found to be more likely to develop and less likely to heal from ulcers compared to nonsmokers since smoking increases the risk for infection from the bacteria commonly found in ulcers (Helicobacter pylori). Since smoking can be a major risk factor for cancers almost anywhere in the body, smokers are also more vulnerable to developing cancers in the gastrointestinal tracts and organs such as the esophagus, stomach, bowels, and colon.

Research also suggests that apart from stress and unbalanced diets, lifestyle choices like smoking can throw off gut bacteria balance. Nature published an article on smoking’s disruptive effects on the small bowel luminal microbiome, specifically in increasing the relative abundance of Lactobacillaceae and Enterobacteriaceae. This in turn affects overall microbial diversity and disrupts the functions of microbes when it comes to digestion, nutrient absorption, and gut barrier integrity.

When smoking inflames the digestive tract and decreases probiotic bacteria levels, it can also lead to leaky gut syndrome. Leaky gut syndrome happens when intestinal permeability increases, to the extent that intestinal walls can no longer prevent bacteria, toxins, and even undigested food from entering the bloodstream. Damages in the gut microbiome can also profoundly exacerbate the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) like abdominal pain, constipation, and bloating.

How to improve your gut health

Because of all the major risk factors that smoking poses to gut health, the best way to prevent the damage from escalating is to stop smoking. The cold-turkey strategy for quitting smoking often leads to withdrawal symptoms, so smokers may need to employ cessation aids like nicotine replacement therapy (NRT).

NRT products include Nicorette nicotine gums and lozenges, which help you absorb nicotine in your mouth upon chewing. But since the sensation from gums and lozenges only last for about 15 minutes, the On! nicotine pouches available on Prilla have three different nicotine levels depending on the dose you need. These oral NRT products are commonly offered in multiple flavors, and they help ease the transition for smokers by helping them satisfy their nicotine cravings without having to harm their gut and overall health.

Outside of quitting smoking, you can better manage and restore your gut bacteria balance through dietary changes. A previous article on How to Naturally Repair Leaky Gut emphasizes the importance of pairing smoking cessation with a proper diet in order to balance your probiotic levels. You can opt for probiotic supplements, while also eating more probiotic foods like sauerkraut and increasing your fiber intake through onions, leeks, and bananas.

As with all matters concerning health, these changes must be integrated with other lifestyle choices like proper sleep, stress management, and regular exercise. A healthy gut improves overall body health as it contributes to effective digestion, brain functioning, and a strong immune system.

Gut+ from ProBiology is a probiotics and prebiotics supplement that has a 250 times better survival rate than a majority of other probiotic capsules and supplements. Find out what this means for you and your gut health.

ProBiology Gut+ Review Summary: Anyone concerned about their gut health should take a probiotic supplement – that is a gimme. The question compounds to which one?

Gut+ is arguably the most complete probiotic and prebiotic supplement combo that we have reviewed – and we have reviewed a lot! It is about $5 more expensive than we feel it should be for single bottles – the value kicks in when you take advantage of the 2 and 3 months offers – but that is the only real negative.

So far we are positioning ProBiology Gut+ as setting the bar and our No.1 recommendation.

Check out special offers on the official website

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Check ProBiology Gut+ Offers

What is ProBiology Gut+?

As the name suggests, ProBiology Gut+ is a dietary supplement designed to improve gut health. It achieves this by providing a unique combination of probiotic bacteria.

Most people these days are aware of the many benefits these friendly gut-living bacteria can deliver. That’s why probiotic yogurts and supplements are so popular.

Probiotic bacteria are even combined with other ingredients in some specialist products such as weight loss pills.

Trapping live bacteria in a pill is a challenging task. That’s why some probiotic supplements have such a bad reputation. They cannot do what they are meant to do because, by the time people take them, all or most of the bacteria are dead.

ProBiology Gut+ leaves these types of pills “dead” in the water. It’s specially formulated to sustain those all-important probiotics so they are still alive and kicking when they enter your gut.

Amazingly, it does this without the need for refrigeration during transit or in your home. All you need is a little space to store the bottle on a shelf. There is no need to reserve a place for them in your fridge.

It’s not just the supplement’s ability to maintain live probiotic bacteria that makes it special though. It knocks spots off most of the alternatives in other ways as well.

In this review, we will take a look at all the things that make ProBiology Gut+ such a superior option for anyone who wants to be sure their gut microbiome is always in top form.

We will also take a look at the cost of using this gut health product, along with other important points to make it easier to decide if it’s the best probiotic supplement for you.

ProBiology Pros – Why Buy this Supplement?

Formula contains all necessary strains

No gluten or soy

Excellent customer reviews

Long 60 day guarantee

Great value for 2 or 2 months offers

ProBiology Cons – What are the Negatives?

Doesn’t ship to some countries

Not sold in stores (GNC, WalMart etc..)

Who Makes ProBiology Gut+?

ProBiology Gut+ is manufactured and distributed by Wolfson Brands. It’s a reputable company that also produces several other highly-rated health and wellness products including the popular diet pill, PhenQ.

Why Are Probiotic Bacteria Important?

There are around 100 trillion micro-organisms living in the average human gut. Most of them are bacteria but there are also fungi, viruses, and protozoa. Collectively, they are known as the gut microbiome.

In addition to “good” probiotic bacteria, the gut microbiome also has less helpful types of bacteria that can slow metabolism and encourage disease.

All the helpful strains of bacteria offer a variety of benefits. Some are more active in certain roles than others. One thing they all do is fight the bad bacteria, keeping the numbers down.

Gut health is an area of active research. We are learning more all the time and it’s clear what happens in the gut can have a significant impact on physical and mental well-being.

As a whole, the gut microbiota is so important some experts describe it as a “virtual organ.”

ProBiology Gut+ Benefits

Any improvement in the gut microbiome can have far-reaching benefits. Depending on your existing gut health, some of them may be more noticeable than others.

However, the key Gut+ benefits are:

Reductions in stress

Improvements in mood

Better digestion (without bloating)

Increased energy and mental focus

Stronger immune function

Healthier bowel function

Feeling lighter and slimmer

Probiotics and Menopause

Probiology Gut+ is particularly beneficial for women to use. It is arguably the most effective probiotic for women over 50 going through the menopause.

According to the latest data and research, menopause may also raise the risk of atherosclerosis in women. Study data indicates Lactobacillus bacteria could stop this from occurring.

Probiotics and Menopausal Weight Gain

Here is an overview of the potential connections between probiotics and menopause weight gain:

Weight gain is common during menopause, partially due to declining estrogen levels. This can lead to a slower metabolism, loss of muscle mass, and increased belly fat storage.

Changes in gut bacteria have also been associated with weight gain and obesity. Menopause causes hormonal shifts that can alter the microbiome balance in the gut.

Some research indicates that decreased bacterial diversity and altered Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio occurs during menopause. This imbalance is linked to inflammation, insulin resistance, and fat accumulation.

Probiotics may help counteract these menopause-related microbiome changes. Studies show certain probiotic strains like Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium support weight loss and belly fat reduction.

Probiotics may aid weight management by optimizing gut hormone signaling, increasing satiety, reducing lipid absorption, decreasing inflammation, and improving insulin sensitivity.

Some small studies specifically suggest probiotic supplementation during menopause may help reduce central abdominal fat. Larger clinical trials are still needed.

Incorporating probiotic foods like yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, and taking probiotic supplements may support a healthy gut microbiome and potentially help mitigate weight gain during menopause.

Probiotics are generally safe but can cause mild gas or bloating. Consult a doctor before use if you have any underlying health conditions or take immune-modulating medications.

Probiotics can be a helpful addition to a healthy diet and active lifestyle, but are not a replacement for dietary and exercise modifications during menopause. Weight management should focus on overall health.

In summary, emerging research indicates probiotics may aid gut health and prevent weight gain during menopause. However, more studies confirming efficacy and optimal strains/doses are still needed. Discuss probiotic options with your doctor.

Two capsules per day provide a powerful proprietary blend (40 Billion CFU) of four of the most useful probiotic bacteria strains:

Lactobacillius Acidophilus

Bifidobacterium Lactis

Lactobacillus Plantarum

Lactobacillius Paracasei

The formulation also provides prebiotic fiber to feed the good bacteria and help them to multiply:

Fructooligosaccharide

The formulation has a special seaweed-based coating, called MAKtrek, to prevent the probiotics from being released too soon.

ProBiology Gut+ Ingredient Value

ProBiology Gut+ contains two of the most useful species of probiotic bacteria—Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli. Both are key players in gut health and also provide additional benefits including improvements in immune function.

Both species have several strains, each of which provides a slightly different range of benefits.

Lactobacillus Acidophilus

This probiotic strain enhances nutrient absorption, helping optimize the benefits you get from food. It’s also useful for tackling yeast infections and reducing the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Lactobacillus acidophilus also partners well with Bifidobacterium lactis (included below). Research involving 60 patients suffering from bowel disorders shows this combination is good for reducing bloating.

Bifidobacterium Lactis

In addition to working well alongside Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium lactis improves digestion and may offer protection against certain types of tumors.

Like all the best probiotics, Bifidobacterium lactis is far from being a one-trick pony. Some of its other virtues include easing bowel movements and helping provide a healthier gut lining.

Lactobacillus Plantarum

Another potent probiotic, Lactobacillus plantarum lowers cholesterol and blood pressure.

An in-depth clinical review published online in January 2020 supports the value of this probiotic strain in multiple areas including treating IBS and certain types of diarrhea.

The review also shows Lactobacillus plantarum is non-invasive and unlikely to cause side effects.

Lactobacillius Paracasei

This is another one of the best probiotics for boosting immunity. Lactobacillus paracasei is also a good probiotic for treating acne and dermatitis.

Lactobacillus paracasei has value in many other areas as well. One of them is treating rheumatoid arthritis. This is an ability many older individuals may appreciate.

Fructooligosaccharide

Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) are compounds that are naturally occurring in many plants including onion, garlic, and artichoke. Chicory is a particularly good source.

FOS is prebiotic. Your digestive organs cannot process it so it arrives in the intestines intact.

When it comes to providing humans with nourishment, FOS has no value but probiotic bacteria thrive on it and well-fed bacteria multiply rapidly. [source]

MAKtrek

MAKtrek is a branded marine polysaccharide complex. It’s made from brown seaweed. Research shows MAKtrek can improve probiotic survival rates by up to 250%.

MAKtrek achieves this by utilizing a special “3D probiotic delivery system.”

D #1: Two-step digestive acid protection: Although the main capsule casing dissolves, the complex marine polysaccharides form a second, internal, capsule that shields the probiotics from harm.

D #2: Transit buffering: A special buffering system that supports the in-transit digestive environment. This ensures optimum probiotic balance.

D #3: Additional Safeguards: Further support from MAKtrek to help make sure your daily probiotic top-up is in top form when it enters your gut.

How ProBiology Gut+ Compares to Other Probiotic Products

As we already mentioned earlier in this review, ProBiology Gut+ far outshines the alternative options. Would you believe, around 96% of the probiotic bacteria in standard options fall victim to digestive enzymes?

When probiotics are digested instead of assimilated into the gut microbiome, it can cause bloating, gas, and many other unpleasant complications. That’s one of the reasons why Wolfson Brands has sealed the probiotic bacteria inside the MAKtrek special coating.

Instead of stuffing its probiotic capsules with a lot of weak or poorly researched strains, Wolfson Brands has only included four of the most useful, top-performing probiotics.

As we pointed out earlier in this review, the company has also taken steps to make sure the probiotics in Gut+ survive inside the capsules. There is no need for refrigeration, they are shelf-stable.

It’s easy to doubt this claim. Especially if you have fallen victim to dud products in the past. However, there’s an easy test you can carry out at home.

Just break open a capsule and pour the contents into a cup that is 1/4 full of milk. Stir it and, in 24 hours, it will be curdled. When that happens, you know your probiotics are still alive.

In addition to all the above, ProBiology Gut+ is free from gluten and soy.

How to Use ProBiology Gut+

The recommended dose is two Gut+ capsules per day, taken with water, first thing each morning.

Important Usage Considerations

If you are thinking of buying a product like this, you are probably already aware of the many benefits a healthier gut microbiome can provide.

However, as with all supplements, if you have any existing health issues or would need to use ProBiology Gut+ alongside medication, it’s best to discuss the matter with your doctor first.

Due to the use of milk-derived bacteria, ProBiology Gut+ won’t be a good option for vegans, vegetarians, or anyone who is lactose intolerant.

Potential Side Effects of Gut+

ProBiology Gut+ doesn’t have any known side effects. In fact, it’s specially formulated not to release the live bacteria until it reaches the small intestine. This slow-release technology helps prevent the intestinal gas and other stomach issues that are common to so many alternative options.

If you have had bad experiences with probiotic products in the past, ProBiology Gut+ is a good option to choose.

ProBiology Gut+ Customer Reviews

Customer reviews are excellent. For some people, the supplement’s ability to improve digestion appears to be the main area of interest and one user praises it for helping her enjoy amazing poops!

Other customer reviews mention improvements in mood, mental health, and weight loss. The word on the block appears to be, ProBiology Gut+ does all the things you would expect a good probiotic product to do.

The Best Place to Buy ProBiology Gut+

Order ProBiology Gut+

ProBiology Gut+ is only available to buy via the official website. Each bottle provides a 30-day treatment for £69.99.

The price is pretty reasonable for such a high-quality gut health product. However, if you are lucky enough to visit the site when a promotion is running, the cost per bottle may be considerably cheaper. At the time of this review, it was possible to buy a bottle of ProBiology Gut+ for just under £55.

The ProBiology Gut+ website also offers some generous special deals.

Buy two bottles of ProBiology Gut+ and get one free

Buy three bottles of ProBiology Gut+ and get two bottles free

If you are serious about improving your gut health and enjoying all the benefits doing so entails, there’s a lot to be said for taking advantage of offers like these. Why pay for a fresh bottle every month when it’s possible to get a month or two for free?

Guarantee

It’s rare to find a probiotic supplement that has a money-back guarantee but this one does and it’s a long one too. It-s good for 60 days.

Unlike a lot of competing probiotic products, ProBiology Gut+ also has free shipping so, any way you look at it, you are always getting a pretty good deal.

ProBiology Gut+ Review Conclusion

ProBiology Gut+ is a high-quality probiotic available at a very reasonable price. Even if you don’t take advantage of the special deals available on the official website, it still offers excellent value for money.

Unlike some of the alternative options, ProBiology Gut+ is not an overly bloated product. Instead of trying to throw in everything but the kitchen sink, Wolfson Brands has concentrated on four of the top probiotic strains.

The company has also taken extra measures to make sure all the bacteria are healthy when they arrive in the gut. Due to our familiarity with Wolfson Brands and its reputation, we would not expect to see anything less.

Customer reviews suggest the formulation does everything Wolfson Brands claims for it and more. That’s important. Nobody knows a product’s abilities better than the people who already have experience using it.

The guarantee is good too. It’s nice and long. That’s great to see. Especially when so many manufacturers are offering no guarantees at all.

If you want to enjoy a healthier gut and all the associated improvements in overall health, you won’t find a better option than ProBiology Gut+. It’s as simple as that.

Will Raw Probiotic provide good value for money? It’s pretty cheap to buy, so it’s hard to complain about the price but it’s unlikely to offer the same level of benefits some of the alternatives do. .

Raw Probiotic Review Summary: Raw Probiotic contains a number of valuable strains of probiotic bacteria. There can be no doubt about that but it’s like an egotistical child that tries a little too hard to impress and it’s trying to grab attention in all the wrong ways.

Complete Probiotics Platinum is a probiotic supplement that’s been on the market for the last couple of years. In its commercial existence it has become one of the best selling probiotic dietary supplement brands in the world – selling particularly well in the United States, Canada, the UK and Australia.

WholeSome Wellness Raw Probiotic

Raw Probiotic is a high-potency probiotic supplement. It comes in the form of a capsule and each one provides 100 billion culture-forming units (CFUs).

That’s a lot of bacteria. Arguably too much.

Although probiotic bacteria are gut-friendly, it’s rare to find a product with such a high CFU. A lot of probiotics are 10 Billion CFU or less.

CFU refers to the amount of bacteria present. In this case, the bacteria come from 34 different strains. Again, this is a lot.

Probiotic yogurts and drinks often only contain bacteria taken from one or two strains. Pills tend to offer a larger variety, but seldom more than 5-15 strains. Most of the best probiotics are 6-8 billion CFU with 6-8 respected probiotic strains.

Raw Probiotic also contains sources of prebiotic fiber. It’s the food probiotic bacteria eat.

Additionally, the formulation has raw fruit and vegetable extracts. There are some digestive enzymes thrown in as well so, far from being a bog-standard product, Raw Probiotic has a lot going on.

Who Makes Raw Probiotic?

Raw Probiotic is made in the USA by Wholesome Wellness. The company is based in Portland, Oregon.

Raw Probiotic is not a one-off product. Wholesome Wellness also distributes several other health and wellness products including collagen capsules and a supplement that promises to provide relief from anxiety and depression.

The company website states Wholesome Wellness is on a mission to help people live healthier happier lives. It aims to do this by providing natural wholesome, products at reasonable prices.

Kudos for the idea but we were unable to find out anything else about the company at all and it appears to be unknown to the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

Wholesome Wellness Raw Probiotic Benefits

Wholesome Wellness makes a lot of promises for this product but maybe that’s not so surprising. After all, it appears to have thrown in everything but the kitchen sink.

100 Billion CFU – Guaranteed Shelf-Stable – 34 Strains

Professional grade Non GMO and Vegan

Daily probiotic for ultimate health

Enhances nutrient absorption

Strengthens immune system

Boosts digestive health

Soothes irritable bowel syndrome

Prevents traveler’s diarrhea

Lowers cholesterol

Reduces bloating and gas

How Does Raw Probiotic Compare to Other Probiotic Products?

With so much bacteria, taken from so many different strains, Raw Probiotic could be seen as a product that dwarfs the competition due to its power.

Ever hear the term “less is more”? That’s often the case with probiotics. This one is far too busy.

Wholesome Wellness says the pills utilize a special timed-release technology that ensures the probiotics are released directly into the intestines. That’s an interesting claim. If it’s true, there will be no chance of the bacteria being destroyed in the stomach.

The company also says the pills are shelf-stable and require no refrigeration. Again, if this is so, it’s another point in the product’s favor.

Raw Probiotic Ingredient Profile and Value

As you can see from the supplement facts, the formulation consists of probiotics, prebiotics, digestive enzymes, and a few fruit and vegetable extracts.

Probiotics

Take a look at the list of probiotics. It’s a solid wall of text! It’s not often you see a label that contains as many inclusions as this.

Some of the probiotic strains are very popular. Others are not and there is probably a good reason for that. It would have made sense to concentrate on a few good key players but Wholesome Wellness is playing a numbers game instead.

However, Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum are valuable inclusions. Both strains are well researched and get a lot of respect.

Lactobacillus acidophilus has value in several areas. One of the things it may do is control the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It may also be useful for preventing and controlling diarrhea, lowering cholesterol, and promoting good vaginal health. (https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/lactobacillus-acidophilus)

Bifidobacterium bifidum also controls diarrhea and encourages good vaginal health. Research suggests it may boost immune function too. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24242237)

Lactobacillus bulgaricus is another good inclusion. It helps sustain the integrity of the intestinal walls, preventing or rectifying an undesirable condition called leaky gut.

When intestinal integrity deteriorates sufficiently to cause a leaky gut, harmful bacteria are able to leave the intestines and enter the blood. That’s a scenario lactobacillus bulgaricus may be able to prevent.

Lactobacillus Brevis has value for controlling inflammation. It lowers cholesterol as well so it’s a pretty good addition too.

Lactobacillus rhamnosus does many of the same things certain other probiotics do such as controlling diarrhea and soothing the symptoms of IBS. It may also help with allergies and some studies suggest certain strains have value for treating urinary tract infections as well.

There are plenty of other valuable inclusions. There can be no doubt about it but there are also a lot of inclusions that are not very well researched and it’s hard to say what they may do.

Prebiotics

The prebiotic blend contains four forms of prebiotic fiber. All of them are good for nourishing probiotic bacteria so there is not a lot to pick fault with here.

Digestive Enzymes

Digestive enzymes can work well alongside probiotics because they support improvements in digestive function and boost nutrient absorption. They aren’t strictly necessary but it’s still nice that they are there.

There are nine enzymes in total. The ones that stand out as offering the most value are amylase, lipase, and protease.

Amylase is the enzyme that processes sugars and carbohydrates. Lipase, helps you to digest fats and protease breaks down proteins into amino acids the body can put to use.

Raw Whole Fruit and Veggie Blend

The blend contains extracts of strawberry, raspberry, plum, cherry, carrot, green pea, and red bell pepper. All seven are nutritious but 50 mg of extracts isn’t going to put much of a dent in your five a day.

The extracts may give you a little top-up of vitamins and minerals but it’s hard to see the point.

How to Use Raw Probiotic

You take one capsule, once per day. That’s all there is to know.

Raw Probiotic Customer Feedback

This product has a lot of surprisingly good reviews. However, when we dug a little deeper we discovered Wholesome Wellness used to run a promotion where they sent their customers a free bottle of pills in exchange for 5-star reviews.

That’s not a wholesome way to market your products and raises questions about how many of the reviews potential customers can trust.

Most of the negative reviews are from people who simply say the product did nothing for them at all but some customers complain the pills gave them bad stomach issues and say they believe the formulation is too strong.

Potential Side Effects and Other Health Considerations

All probiotic products have the potential to cause side effects. Especially during the early stages of use, when the body is still getting used to the presence of extra bacteria in the gut. Customer reviews suggest Raw Probiotic is no exception. Many customers report gut issues like bloating and gas.

However, probiotic side effects generally disappear after the body has time to adjust.

If you are thinking of using this or any other probiotic supplement, it would be unwise to do so if your normal immune function is impaired due to disease, medications, or surgical procedures.

Pregnant and nursing women will need to seek medical advice before using probiotic products. The same is true for anyone who has existing health issues or would need to use the probiotic alongside medication.

The Best Place to Buy Raw Probiotic

Although it’s sometimes possible to buy Raw Probiotic via Amazon, it’s often marked unavailable. It’s generally best to purchase via the manufacturer’s website and, at just $23 per bottle, it’s a pretty cheap probiotic supplement to buy.

Guarantee

Wholesome wellness promises a money-back guarantee but does not provide any details about the duration, how to get a refund, or any special terms that may apply.

Wholesome Wellness Raw Probiotic Review Conclusion

Raw Probiotic contains a number of valuable strains of probiotic bacteria. There can be no doubt about that but it’s like an egotistical child that tries a little too hard to impress and it’s trying to grab attention in all the wrong ways.

If you were putting together a team to play football or hockey, which would you rather have, a lot of mid-carders or a few top-rated players? Quality is more important than quantity and, if the team gets too large all those excess players would only get in the way.

The same is likely to happen with all the probiotic bacteria strains in Raw Probiotic.

It’s great to see some prebiotics included, but the vitamins an unnecessary extra. As are the fruit and vegetable extracts.

Will Raw Probiotic provide good value for money? It’s pretty cheap to buy, so it’s hard to complain about the price but it’s unlikely to offer the same level of benefits some of the alternatives do.

With so many strains of bacteria involved, many of them lacking research, there may also be an increased chance of side effects. That’s an important consideration too but, in the end, only you can decide if Raw Probiotic is a probiotic you are willing to try.

PhenQ Review

If you’re looking for information about PhenQ, there’s a good chance you already know it’s a popular product. By the time you’ve finished reading this review, you will understand why.

PhenQ has been a popular diet pill since its launch in 2015. At the time, many diet pills did not have money-back guarantees, and the few that did only allowed customers 30 days to make a claim.

Then along came PhenQ with a 60-day money-back guarantee. Apart from being unheard of, such a long guarantee showed the manufacturer’s faith in its product.

When all the positive feedback began rolling in, it took PhenQ’s credibility to an even higher level and, with over 190,000 satisfied customers, it’s still one of the most respected diet pills in the world.

60 pills per bottle that should last a month

What Is PhenQ?

PhenQ is a tablet that provides a special combination of powerful natural ingredients. Working together, the ingredients in PhenQ tackle problem fat from all sides.

By definition, PhenQ is a Phentermine over the counter brand that is available to adults to obtain without prescription.

A lot of diet pills are only designed to increase metabolism and provide help with hunger. They may also provide ingredients that boost energy.

PhenQ does these things too but offers additional benefits as well. If you choose to lose weight with PhenQ, it’s like taking five diet pills rolled into one. It’s very powerful. That’s the main reason it has retained its popularity for so long.

Manufacturer Credibility

There are a lot of fly-by-nights in the supplement industry. If you buy from them, it’s often difficult to find out who they are or where they are based.

These company’s that operate from the shadows can also be very difficult to contact if you need to report a problem with their products or ask for advice. You don’t have any of these worries with PhenQ.

PhenQ is made by Wolfson Berg. The company is based in Cyprus, has been leading the way in the supplement industry for more than 30 years, and offers an excellent level of customer support.

Wolfson Berg is also the company behind several other health and wellness brands including CrazyBulk and Bauer Nutrition. It’s a name you can trust and all its products are produced to high-quality standards in FDA and GMP approved facilities in the USA and UK.

PhenQ Benefits

Controls your appetite

Helps you to burn stored fat

Blocks fat cell formation

Boosts energy

Enhances your mood

100% vegan and vegetarian-friendly

Putting the PhenQ Benefits Into Perspective

A lot of review sites just provide a list of the things PhenQ does and don’t explain why the benefits are important. That’s not how we do things here. A good review needs to help people understand the way diet pill ingredients affect the body and what kind of weight loss experience to expect.

Appetite Control

Helping people control their appetites is one of the most important things a diet pill can do. Apart from making you miserable, hunger also encourages you to overeat. Do that and your diet will fail.

PhenQ prevents hunger from holding you back by providing nopal and Capsimax. The PhenQ diet pill formulation also has chromium picolinate to prevent the blood sugar fluctuations that can trigger cravings for sweet food.

PhenQ is often positioned as the best appetite suppressant pill on many independent review or comparison website that rates and ranks similar diet products.

Helps You to Burn Fat

Your body burns its stores of fat to get energy. It will only do this if it has not got enough energy from food. Just by making it easier to eat less, PhenQ helps you to burn extra fat.

However, PhenQ also contains ingredients that boost metabolism and thermogenesis. This increases, the energy shortage caused by dieting, causing you to burn additional fat.

A boosted metabolism burns more calories than normal and the benefits can last several hours. When thermogenesis increases, your body becomes a little warmer, causing you to lose extra energy as heat.

Blocks Fat Cell Formation

As well as helping you to burn more fat for energy, PhenQ also hampers your body’s ability to form fresh fat cells. That’s interesting but not really a strong selling point because, when you are dieting and taking PhenQ every day, your body shouldn’t have an excess of energy to store as fat.

Boosts Energy & Enhances Mood

An effective weight loss diet robs the body of energy. That’s why it works. Although it works well for fat loss, there can be a couple of downsides to this.

The first problem is, your diet may make you feel more tired than normal. It may also become more difficult to work up the enthusiasm to do simple everyday tasks or follow a weight-loss exercise regimen.

Dieting can also bring you down emotionally and put you in a bad mood. That’s not surprising if you are constantly having to limit your food intake and try and avoid some of your favorite foods because they contain too many calories.

A lot of diet pills are designed to boost energy like PhenQ does but most supplement manufacturers overlook the effect dieting can have on your mood. If you had to sum up the abilities of PhenQ in a single sentence, you could say it’s a diet pill that does everything other diet pills do and then does a little bit more.

PhenQ Usage Guidelines and Considerations

PhenQ is suitable for all men and women who are over the age of 18, in good health, and need extra help to lose weight. It’s not suitable for use during pregnancy or by mothers who are feeding their breast milk to their children.

The dose is two tablets a day. You take the first one with breakfast and the second one with lunch.

If you want to get the best results from PhenQ, you need to use it with a suitable exercise regimen and diet plan.

PhenQ Ingredients (Per Tablet)

PhenQ only has seven active ingredients. Some competing products have a lot more but don’t let the low number of ingredients fool you. When it comes to weight loss supplements, it’s the quality that counts, and PhenQ has seven of the best.

a-Lacys Reset (25 mg)

a-Lacys Reset is an exciting new ingredient that’s generally seen as being the star player in PhenQ. It’s a proprietary blend of alpha-lipoic acid and cysteine that supports improvements in body composition by increasing fat loss while also providing improvements in muscle mass.

The results of an early clinical trial show people who supplemented with a-Lacys Reset burned away 7.34 percent of their body fat and increased their muscle mass by 3.8 percent.

Nopal Cactus Extract (20 mg)

Nopal (Opuntia ficus-indica) cactus extract is a powerful natural appetite suppressant. The natives of some countries have been taking advantage of its hunger-curbing abilities for hundreds of years.

The traditional way to stop hunger with nopal is to eat pieces of the cactus flesh. Most of us don’t have access to the plants and those who do may not want to risk the wrath of the prickles while they are slicing up the local cactus population with their knives. It’s much easier to leave the hard work to the farmers and use an extract instead.

Recent research reveals nopal has another useful ability. It further supports weight loss by limiting the number of calories your body gets from dietary fats. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4109417/)

Capsimax (50 mg)

Capsimax is a proprietary ingredient that combines capsicum, niacin, and piperine in a carefully measured dose. As the name suggests, capsicum is the most important of the three.

Capsicum provides a compound called capsaicin that speeds up metabolism and increases thermogenesis to help you burn extra fat. It also reduces appetite.

Researchers have known these things about capsicum for a long time. However, recent research reveals another reason why this ingredient works so well as a weight loss aid ‒ it increases BAT (brown adipose tissue). BAT is a special type of fat-burning fat. (https://academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/95/4/845/4576740)

Standard capsicum extracts are hard on the stomach but Capsimax is not because it’s specially engineered so that the fiery elements are not released until they reach the intestines. This allows for maximum absorption while also preventing stomach discomfort.

Caffeine Anhydrous (100 mg)

Caffeine is a stimulant that provides extra energy and increases concentration. The dose provided here gives you the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee. That’s a decent amount but not so high that it presents a risk of side effects. Coffee is also very good for you gut health as it helps keep the bowels moving. It achieves this by boosting the motility of the smooth muscle in the gastrointestinal tract.

Caffeine is a common diet pill inclusion but some diet pills provide too much. Manufacturers often get heavy-handed because caffeine is a cheap ingredient that is scientifically proven to increase metabolism and thermogenesis. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2333832/)

Calcium Carbonate (230mg)

This ingredient provides calcium in an easy-accessible form.

You need calcium for many things including strong bones and teeth. It also helps with fat loss and then goes one better by inhibiting your ability to store excess calories as fat.

Chromium Picolinate (80 mcg)

Chromium picolinate is a popular supplement ingredient that provides chromium in a form that’s easy to digest. It prevents sugar cravings by regulating insulin sensitivity and glucose control. (https://care.diabetesjournals.org/content/29/8/1826.long)

L-Carnitine Fumarate (150 mg)

L-Carnitine is a fatigue-fighting amino acid that’s present in many nootropic supplements because of its ability to help prevent depression and enhance mood.

PhenQ Feedback

When you are trying to choose a diet pill, feedback from past and existing customers is important. It gives you an idea of the things a product can do.

Let’s take a look at a few customer reviews and see what people are saying about PhenQ.

Those two reviews are from the PhenQ website.

Now let’s take a look at a couple of reviews from a third-party site.

PhenQ has help me get my confidence back. When I had my first child my weight ballooned, I gained some weight I could look at myself in the mirror. I have been using PhenQ for 6 months now and I have virtually back to my pre pregnancy weight.

Mary T, Denver, USA

I just can’t stop eating, it has always been my downfall. I just have to look at food and I pile on the pounds. Since using PhenQ I find that my appetite is reduced and feel the need to eat all the time.

Carly Q, Montreal, Canada

We found plenty more PhenQ success stories but were unable to find many customer complaints or poor reviews. Perhaps the biggest criticism is that it is only available from the official website.

It’s rare to find such a good vibe for a weight loss product but it’s also rare to encounter a product as good as PhenQ.

PhenQ Side Effects

PhenQ does not have any known side effects. However, if you have an existing health condition or would need to use the supplement alongside medication, it’s advisable to be extra cautious and seek medical advice before using PhenQ. The same is true for all dietary supplements.

Where to Buy PhenQ and How Much You Can Expect to Pay

Wolfson Berg has created a special website that provides detailed information about PhenQ and the things that it can do. The site also doubles as the PhenQ online store. It’s the only place you can buy the real PhenQ and get the money-back guarantee.

If PhenQ appears to be for sale on other sites, such as eBay, it will probably be counterfeit and will not perform in the same way.

There are 60 tablets in a bottle of PhenQ. That’s enough to provide 30 days of weight loss support.

At the time of this review, the normal price was $69.95 per bottle. That’s not a bargain basement price but PhenQ is one of the top weight management products and Wolfson Berg always offers free shipping.

The cost per bottle is not unreasonable, but you can get an even better deal by adding an extra bottle or two to your order.

When you buy two bottles of PhenQ, Wolfson Berg gives you a third bottle for free.

If you buy three bottles, you get two free bottles and, if there’s an additional promotion in place, you can often get a free companion product as well.

If you get extra lucky and visit the site during a flash sale, you will be able to get an additional discount of up to 20 percent.

Visit Official Website

PhenQ Review Conclusion

At the beginning of this review, we promised to help you understand why PhenQ is such a popular diet pill. If you’ve read this far without skipping, hopefully now you do. It’s a good all-rounder that offers an unparalleled level of support.

Does that mean you should use PhenQ? Only you can decide that but it’s one of the best options for the average person who needs help to lose weight. It’s safe, effective, reasonably priced, and has a money-back guarantee. What more could you want?

The process of fermentation is the reaction of sugars being broken down by yeast. Fermentation can greatly increase food preservation – and eating fermented foods can increase your guts good bacteria level.

Fermented Foods and Gut Health

Naturally fermented foods are getting an increasing amount of attention these days. Research shows foods of this nature can boost probiotic bacteria levels and have a beneficial effect on gut health.

Due to the way the gut microbiome affects health and general wellbeing, anything that boosts probiotic activity can only be seen as a good thing.

Fermenting food is a traditional way of preserving food and drinks. People were extending the life of their food and drinks in this manner long before the days of refrigerators.

During fermentation, yeast, bacteria, and other microorganisms convert sugar, starch, and other organic compounds into alcohol or acids that have a preserving effect on the food.

Thanks to advances in research, we now know the microorganisms that enable the process of fermentation can benefit the health in a variety of different ways.

The bacteria in fermented food can help relieve the symptoms of IBS. They can also remedy leaky gut syndrome, reduce obesity, and provide a number of other surprisingly diverse benefits.

So, as far as the science goes, there is plenty of proof to support the relationship between fermented foods and improvements in gut health.

A Look at the Science of Fermented Foods

In August 2018, Frontiers in Microbiology published a paper called Fermented Foods as a Dietary Source of Live Organisms. It was submitted by researchers at the University of Nebraska.

The paper was based on an in-depth clinical review of 191 relevant studies. Most of the data in the studies was based on retail food samples. The kind of foods the average store-goer is likely to buy.

The research shows many fermented foods are good sources of live lactic acid bacteria, including a lot of the species that are generally deemed beneficial for gut health and general well-being.

As well as being a good source of probiotic bacteria, many fermented foods are also highly nutritious. The paper points this out. It also points out several prominent groups suggest health care professionals promote fermented foods as part of public health policy.

The researches also highlight the potential value fermented foods may have for low-income and “resource challenged” communities that are unusually susceptible to gastrointestinal infections.

A similar clinical review, conducted in Greece and published in ISRN Nutrition (Jan 2, 2013) further highlights the benefits of probiotic foods.

The researchers agree there is scientific evidence to support the use of probiotic foods to provide health benefits. They also point out the best documented probiotic benefits appear to be those relating to bowel disorders such as antibiotic-associated diarrhea and lactose intolerance.

Looking to the future, the researchers predict a significant increase in the use of probiotics in nutrition and medicine.

So, as far as the science goes, there is plenty of proof to support the relationship between fermented foods and improvements in gut health.

Some Good Fermented Foods to Improve Your Gut Health

Sauerkraut

Some people love it, while others hate it. If you’ve never tasted sauerkraut, the only way to discover which camp you belong to is to try it and see.

Sauerkraut is very simple to prepare. The only ingredients are cabbage and salt. However, it takes 2-6 weeks to ferment so you can be forgiven if you’d rather buy it from a store.

Kimchi

Kimchi is a Korean version of sauerkraut. It contains more salt and is fermented at a much lower temperature than sauerkraut is.

Although it’s saltier than sauerkraut, kimchi tends to be less acidic. It also provides more probiotics and, because kimchi has some additional ingredients, it usually has a higher nutritional value.

Kombucha

Kombucha is a fermented drink made from green or black tea. It’s sweet and effervescent and takes up to a week to ferment.

The longer you leave it to ferment, the fizzier it becomes.

Kombucha often has herbs or fruit to add extra flavor.

As well as being probiotic, it retains the high level of health-boosting antioxidants that are present in normal tea.

Kefir

Kefir is another fermented drink that can add extra good bacteria to your gut microbiome. It’s high in calcium and tastes like a yogurt drink.

Kefir assists the breakdown of lactose so it will be gentle on the stomach if you are lactose intolerant.

Miso

Miso is another fermented food that has the potential to improve gut health.

Japanese in origin, it’s a paste made from soybeans and koji.

Koji is a mold made from rice, barley, or soybeans.

People often use miso to add extra flavor to soups.

You can also combine it with other ingredients to make a nutritious probiotic spread for your bread.

Tempeh

Tempeh is another fermented soybean product. You could see it as a fermented form of tofu but it has a firmer texture and somewhat nuttier flavor.

Yogurt

Yogurt is a fermented milk product. You probably know that already. Even yogurts that don’t fly the “probiotic” banner still contain the bacteria.

Yogurts are easily one of the most popular probiotic foods.

As well as supporting gut health, yogurts are a fermented food that’s high in calcium and protein.

If you are on a diet, Greek yogurt can be particularly good because it’s thicker texture can ward off hunger by keeping your stomach feeling nice and full.

Fermented Foods and Gut Health Summary

Eating fermented foods is an easy way to top-up your levels of probiotic bacteria and improve your gut health. Due to the many ways the gut microbiome influences other areas of health, this type of food can benefit your body in a surprising number of different ways.

The value of fermented and probiotic foods has been the subject of a great deal of research. Data from most of these studies supports the value of fermented foods as a means of tweaking the health of the gut.

In 2013, researchers in Greece predicted an increase in the use of probiotics in nutrition and medicine. Time has shown their prediction to be correct and it seems likely the popularity of probiotics will continue to grow.

It’s equally likely that future studies will reveal probiotics have potential in areas presently unknown. Who knows what the future may hold?

An easy to use weight management supplement that comes in shot (drink) form. SlimBiome claims it is backed by strong scientific evidence. Read the review and find out if you should purchase.

weight management Shots available in Original, Digest and Thermo

SlimBiome Review Summary: Very much targeted towards the UK with Holland and Barrett a major reseller.

With the success of rival weight loss shot product Boombom – Slimbiome is the opposite end of the scale in terms of hype.

Any weight loss supplement that contains glucomannan is worth considering as it is arguably the most clinically referenced appetite suppressant ingredient.

The feeling is SlimBiome is understrength and doesn’t really compete with the major brands.

In our opinion PhenQ is a better diet product if you want to experience the appetite suppressing and simultaneous fat burning. It is arguably the most effective commercial weight loss in circulation.

SlimBiome Review

SlimBiome is a weight-management drink marketed by Holland & Barrett. Each drink provides one gram of glucomannan. You take it before meals to help reduce your hunger.

Glucomannan products are very easy to obtain these days but SlimBiome differs from most of the other options because it provides several vitamins and minerals as well. In fact, it could be seen to be directly competing with Boombod—a popular brand that provides glucomannan, vitamins, and minerals.

Like Boombod, SlimBiome is packed into individual one-shot sachets. In all honesty, the biggest difference is probably the price.

If you use Boombod for a week, it will cost you around £30. Using SlimBiome will only cost you £20 per week and Holland & Barrett offers subscribe and save options that can bring down the price. However, it’s still an expensive option to choose

At the time of this review, Holland & Barrett was offering three versions of the product.

Original

Thermo

Digest

The original version combines glucomannan with chromium. It’s a weight management product that suppresses appetite and helps maintain blood sugar levels.

Appetite suppressants are great for reducing daily calorie consumption.

SlimBiome Thermo is practically the same but it contains additional ingredients to boost metabolism and improve fat oxidation.

SlimBiome Digest doesn’t boost metabolism or enhance fat burning. Instead, it provides the same benefits the original product does and has some additional ingredients to improve gut health.

Who Makes SlimBiome?

SlimBiome is Holland & Barrett’s own-label brand.

Holland & Barrett is a retailer, not a manufacturer, so the manufacturing must be outsourced to another company. However, the Holland & Barrett health food shop chain has over 1,300 stores in 16 countries. It’s respected and trusted all over the world.

How to Take SlimBiome

Regardless of which of the three options you choose, the way you take SlimBiome is always the same.

You have to tear open a sachet and combine the contents with 200 ml of water in a small glass.

The best time to take it is 30 minutes before breakfast, lunch, and dinner and it’s best not to hang around. You need to drink it fast. If you don’t the mixture may become so thick you will need to eat it with a spoon.

SlimBiome Ingredient Profile

All three formulations provide one gram of glucomannan per sachet. They also contain the same blend of eight vitamins and minerals. The quantities involved differ slightly but not enough to make any real difference.

At the time of this review the ingredient profile for the original product (Raspberry Flavor) looked like this:

The other two options each have three additional ingredients that are unique to their particular blend. Let’s take a look at the two formulations side by side:

How the Formulations Work

SlimBiome is primarily an appetite suppressant. The vitamins and minerals in the formulations are beneficial but are best seen as a bonus.

As a product for controlling hunger, SlimBiome has instant credibility. Many studies prove glucomannan is an appetite suppressant that works.

The dose is spot-on as well. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has evaluated all the best research, confirms the ingredient’s ability to control hunger, and recommends three one-gram doses of glucomannan per day.

However, 200 ml of water may not be enough to get good results. Holland & Barrett would do well to tell its customers to follow their glucomannan shot with another glass of water. That’s what the manufacturer of Boombod does and quite rightly so.

Glucomannan is a water-soluble fiber that comes from the root of a plant. It’s highly absorbent and needs plenty of water to work.

When you take glucomannan with sufficient water, the fibers absorb the water and swell in the stomach. That’s what provides the appetite-suppressing effect. If you don’t drink enough water, the fibers will not have the opportunity to swell enough. This will reduce the appetite-suppressing effect.

The three products also offer some additional benefits.

SlimBiome Original

As well as providing glucomannan, SlimBiome Original also contains chromium. It’s an ingredient you will find included in many diet pill formulations because it prevents the fluctuation in blood sugar and insulin that can cause blood sugar to crash. When blood sugar crashes, the body responds by causing you to have urges for foods that are high in sugar and carbs.

SlimBiome Thermo

SlimBiome Thermo has three additional ingredients that are not in the original version.

Green tea

Guarana

Garcinia Cambogia

Research shows green tea boosts metabolism and helps you to burn extra fat.

It’s one of the most common diet pill ingredients in the world.

Guarana is a berry that provides caffeine. It’s a potent source but releases the stimulant slowly. Guarana is good for boosting energy levels and doing so for quite long periods of time.

Garcinia cambogia is a fruit. It’s rind provides hydroxycitric acid (HCA).

HCA helps control appetite. It may also discourage the body from storing excess calories as fat.

SlimBiome Digest

SlimBiome Digest doesn’t have any green tea, guarana, or garcinia cambogia. It has three other ingredients instead.

Apple cider vinegar

Aloe Vera

Licorice

Apple cider vinegar is associated with many health benefits. Weight-loss is one of them but it does not pack a lot of power in this regard.

Research shows it can also kill bacteria and other pathogens. It also appears to lower blood sugar and insulin levels.

Aloe vera is a laxative that can help keep you regular. It also provides amino acids, antioxidants, and other beneficial compounds.

Licorice

Licorice is an antioxidant. It also appears to offer anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects.

Some studies suggest it may help with weight loss. Others support its longstanding reputation for aiding digestion.

SlimBiome Customer Reviews

Customer reviews are a mixed bag. Some people say SlimBiome provided them with the kind of results they were hoping for, others say it let them down.

All three versions provide one gram of glucomannan and research shows it’s an effective dose. That being the case, it seems strange that so many people report poor results.

There could be many reasons for this but one of the most obvious ones is lack of water. Holland and Barrett suggests mixing the shot with 200 ml of water. This alone will not be enough to expand the glucomannan fibers enough to provide maximum appetite suppression.

The other thing that comes up a lot is the flavor. A lot of people don’t like it. Unfortunately, that’s always the case with products of this nature. We all have different tastes. Perhaps Holland & Barrett could address this problem by adding some extra flavors to its range.

Here what a few customers have to say:

Potential Side Effects and Other Health Considerations

Side effects are unlikely but, anyone who has health problems or would need to use SlimBiome alongside medication would be wise to get a doctor’s blessing before starting supplementation. The same advice is offered to women who are pregnant or nursing a child.

The Best Place to Buy SlimBiome

You can only buy this product from Holland & Barrett stores or via the company website.

There are a few flavor options and each box contains 21 (5 g) sachets. That’s enough to last for seven days.

At only £19 per box, the product initially appears quite cheap but you have to remember it’s the cost per week, not per month.

SlimBiome is certainly cheaper than Boombod but it’s still an expensive product to choose.

SlimBiome Review Conclusion

Regardless of which option you choose, SlimBiome is probably going to offer the most benefit to people who need something to control their hunger.

Although some people who have experience using the product claim it let them down, the problem was likely to be a lack of water. Holland & Barrett’s Boombod alternative is good, but the usage guidelines leave a lot to be desired. Glucomannan can only work its magic when it’s thoroughly watered. Holland & Barrett has fumbled the ball.

The price of this product is also an issue. Glucomannan is the key player in all three formulations. You don’t need to pay for an expensive product like this to take advantage of its appetite-suppressing effects. Most pharmacies will be able to provide you with a cheap, generic glucomannan pill capable of providing one gram of the fiber, three times per day.

SlimBiome Thermo offers a few additional benefits. The guarana it provides will probably provide an energy boost and the green tea will support improvements in metabolism and fat burning. The problem is, there are alternative options that can do these things too. Some of which offer a spectrum of additional benefits on top.

As for SlimBiome Digest, Holland & Barrett appears to be using it to target people seeking improvements in digestion and gut health. It may have some value in this regard but there are better ways to go and the formulation could have been greatly improved by losing one of the other ingredients and adding some ginger instead.

All three SlimBiome products have their virtues but the level of benefit customers receive is unlikely to sufficient to justify the price.

Recommended for Weight Loss: if you main concern is excess body weight / body fat we highly recommend PhenQ
